Overall, the hotel is going through some renovations. However, it is definitely below standard and not the 4 stars that were advertised. Positives - The staff were amazing (Briar, Vanya, and Heather), and they were so helpful in making our stay comfortable. - The location is central and allows for walking to major points. - The renovated room that we were sent to was a thousand fold better but still not comparable to other Mercures that we have been to. Negatives - The beds are horrible. All 4 of us struggled to get a decent night of sleep. Upgrade needed - The shower head needed changing as it sprayed everywhere, but the body. - The lights are too bright for a room indoors, and if a night light is needed, then there isn't a softer option. Neutrals - The room doesn't have an AC, but they have a fan that does a good job of cooling the room. Don't know how this works in hotter months - They hotel is in the process of being upgraded, but the quality of upgrade is average.

I liked the structure of the rooms. There were many windows so it allowed sunlight in the room. There was a kitchenette, bathroom, dining table in tge living room and a bedroom with a comfortable bed. There was an iron and iron table, closet, and heaters. Just exactly how it was described. The floors were carpet so it wasnt cold for the feet. There were plenty of supermarkets infront of the hotel where you can buy things to cook at your appartment. There was a mc donnalds too, an atm machine and so much more! Cuba street is a street away where all cafes and restaurants! And the hotel was not far away from Victoria University and the Takina convention centre where my conference was.

My stay at the Mercure Hotel in Wellington over the Easter period was an absolute delight. The hotel's prime location allowed for easy exploration of the city, providing a perfect balance of convenience and tranquility. The room exceeded my expectations, offering comfort and luxury that enhanced my holiday experience. Every detail, from the tasteful decor to the attentive service, was tailored to ensure a memorable stay. It was truly a home away from home, and I couldn't have asked for more from my Easter getaway.

The view over harbour from 13th floor apartment was delightful - constantly changing. Excellent location for access to harbour, easy walks to Te Papa museum etc, cable car to Botanic Garden and Zealandia. Staff at Reception very helpful with several issues - but a failed light globe could not be replaced during our 4 days because the maintenance person was unwell. Guest laundry useful - less expensive and much easier than commercial laundromat - none close by.

The location was excellent, close to everything I needed. The room was very clean and almost everything (except fan) was in very good order. It felt like it had been refurbished not too long ago. The room and bedroom were also spacious and had a view of the surrounding city and harbour. Bed, shower, staff - all good. I wasn't sure where to park but there is a Wilsons carpark nearby.
